PHOENIX, Arizona, April 28. DAX Hill joins The Morning Swim Show today to talk about his performances at the NCAA championships.

Hill, a sophomore at the University of Texas, told host Peter Busch that his 200 free second-place finish was not his breakout swim, and that he believes that will only come when he earns a spot on the 2012 Olympic team. He talks about how training has affected him in Austin, Texas, and what he thought of the historic finish in the 200 free at NCAAs. Click here to watch the full show.

Hi Everybody,

Please check our Long Course Meet Schedule page for information about the End of School Splash swim meet at UT. If you have qualified for an event of 200 LCM or longer, please sign up to swim this meet. If it is your first swim meet, we always try to encourage swimming the 50 free and 50 back. Both events are on Sunday.

Our Summer swimming schedule will remain the same, with only a few minor adjustments. All 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm practice times will remain the same. At 5:00 pm we will offer Senior and J5 programs only. Senior and Elite swimmers will have the opportunity to swim in a morning practice three days a week in addition to their regular daily practices in the evening. Days and times for these morning practices are still to be determined upon consultation with the YMCA. Elite groups will meet for strength training T/TH as well, also at a time TBD. All group fees will remain the same and all practices will be held at the YMCA.

Changes will start June 1st and continue through July 31st. We will resume with the current short course training schedule August 1st. Please take advantage of the Summer swim meets as it is the only time during the year where you have the opportunity to compete in an Olympic size pool.

Congratulations to Dax Hill, who took second place in the 200 freestyle with a personal best of 1:32.64 in the NCAA D1 Championship Final. Dax becomes the third-fastest Texas Longhorn in the 200 freestyle behind Olympic gold medalists Dave Walters and Ricky Berens. Dax also placed 5th in the 100 freestyle.

Dear Team,

Information for the first Long Course swim meet has been released. Longhorn Aquatics is hosting the Long Course Kick off April 8-10th at the Texas Swim Center. There are no qualifying times for events 100 meters and shorter, but a swimmer must have a National "B" cut to swim anything 200 and longer. Read meet info >>

We are encouraging everyone to attend as Long Course meets are limited and very few teams are able to host a Long Course swim meet. Entry fees are $8.00 an event with a $6.00 coaching fee.

Hi Everybody,

Streamline Aquatics is hosting a swim meet March 25-27th at the University of the Incarnate Word. This is a great meet for anyone trying to improve their yards times as it will be the last short course swim meet of the season. When April comes around, all meets will be done in Long Course format through the end of the summer.

If your swimmer wants to compete, they must have never swam faster than the BB standard for that event. Each swimmer may enter up to 5 events a day. Entry cost is $7.50 per event with a $6.00 coaching fee. See Meet Info >>

The last 2 weeks has brought about several amazing swims as Lone Star swimmers competed at both the High School State swim meet and the A Championships. At State, Zain Pleuthner and Kirby Seibert both posted fast times in the 50 free and 200 medley relay. Zain came in seeded 9th but threw down a hammer to finish 4th in the 50 free. This is now the 5th year in a row a Lone Star sprinter has finaled at State. Kirby posted her best time in the 50 fly as her relay went on to finish 11th. Great job guys!

Swimmers at the "A" meet swam ferociously as both the guys and girls posted incredible times including Eryn Hauser's victory in the 50 free and Nicole Tank receiving her first TAG cut. Great job guys, we are all so proud of you!

With both meets concluding, we now go into the final stretch of the season with Sectionals this weekend and then TAGS the following weekend. Here is our final roster:

1) This is the 4th year in a row LSAC has won both 50 and 100 men's sprint free titles.
2) Kirby Seibert's 25.11 in 50 free is not only a Sectionals cut, but it now puts her within half a second of LSAC team record.

In other news, Dax Hill was selected to represent the USA at the World University Games in Shanzen, China! This is an epic achievement and a wonderful opportunity! Congrats Dax!

Also, Wes Wheeler and the Texas A&M Aggies scored a huge victory in their win over LSU this last weekend. Wes competed in the backstroke and swam in the medley relay. Great job Wes!

Congratulations to all swimmers who competed in the B Championship meet this past weekend. I am very pleased with the progress made by each and every swimmer, as we had many best times and great races. Competing in preliminaries and finals for three days for a total of six sessions can be mentally and physically draining. Our swimmers gave it their all throughout the entirety of the meet and were excited and focused on racing. Lone Star continues to stand out as a dominant force in South Texas swimming. I am very proud of the rate of improvement and commitment of our swimmers and look forward to the remainder of the season. Parents, thank you so much for your support and commitment as well. We couldn't do it without you. Once again, congratulations swimmers, keep up the great work!

Dear Team,

Psych sheet and warm-up info for this weekend's B Championship meet have been posted. Approximate time line for each prelim session is:
Friday - 8:30 to 10:26 AM
Saturday - 8:30 to 10:59 AM
Sunday - 8:30 to 10:29 AM

Parents and swimmers, please be ready to return for finals. Looking at the number of entries in each event, by age group, most swimmers will get to swim in finals. Only a few events have more than 16 swimmers entered in an age group. If you are not planning on swimming in the evening's finals, make sure you scratch to avoid a fine.

Since this is a small meet (~240 swimmers), all swimmers and parents will be seated in the natatorium. Please bring chairs if you can since the seating will be limited.

If you plan on attending the B, BB, or A and up swim meet(s), please go ahead and email me (Coach Adam lsaccoach@hotmail.com) now the events you want to swim. I'm going to put the batches together ahead of time and edit as we go through the swim meets. We can edit/change events as meets go by and swimmers move up in the cuts he or she makes.

Right now we have a pretty big crew already qualified, much more than anticipated. Keeping coming in to practice and let's see how big we can get this squad!

All info for this weekend's swim meet is posted on our website. It is a prelim/final meet so please check and see if your child has qualified for the evening's finals before you leave. UT will fine swimmers who do not show up for finals, unless he or she scratches ahead of time.

***Please bring in goods for the 101st Army division in Afghanistan by Jan 17th.

Hi Everybody!

I hope everyone is having an outstanding holiday break. Thank you to everyone who brought in gifts and Christmas presents! We are adding one additional swim meet to our 2011 swim meet schedule. San Antonio is hosting a "Slower than A Meet" January 15-16th for anyone who has not made their National A cut.

Right now there are several who are on the cusp of qualifying and would like the chance to do so. This meet is for you guys.

The cost is $6.00 and event + $6.00 coaching fee. Swimmers may enter up to 5 events a day, but it is recommended that you stick with the events you are close to qualifying in.

If you would like to enter, please email me your entries by Friday the 31st @ 6pm. The entry deadline is the 4th, but sometimes these meets fill up.

Great job to everyone who swam at the Jingle Bell splash. I don't think any of the coaches expected us to swim at that magnitude you guys did this past weekend. We had an enormous amount of time drops and championship qualifiers including Annie Wang who made her state cut in the 50 fly. She joins Eryn Hauser as the second swimmer to have qualified for TAGS. To all our first time competitors, great job on really getting after it. The coaches were really in shock to see how driven you guys actually are. Remember, each meet is just another chance to get better. The future is a promise or a threat. You make the choice of what you want it to be and we'll guide you there. The best swimmers are the ones who make more opportunities than they are given.

Our next meet, the New Year's Classic will take place January 7-9th. In order to swim at this meet, you must have qualified under the National B standard to swim. As soon as UT sends me the results from this weekend, I will run a report and send it out so you guys will know if and what you are qualified for. The meet opens this week, so I am going to send the entries out as soon as they open. If you know what you want to swim, please email me ASAP. Otherwise I will enter everyone who has qualified and you can let me know if I need to make changes.

Merry Christmas Lone Star Families,

This Friday is the annual Round Rock Family Christmas Event in downtown Round Rock. The fun begins at 6:30 pm with Santa's arrival and then there will be all kinds of free things for you and your family to do. Lone Star sponsors the cupcake walk every year and below is a schedule of who is volunteering and when. I will be at the YMCA Thursday, with two baker's racks for you all to drop off your cupcakes. December 10th is quickly approaching and I need at least 20 more elves to help me run our Lone Star Aquatic Club's Cupcake Walk (I only need you for 15 minutes, that way you can enjoy the event with your family).

I also need 400 cupcakes. All families are asked to bake one or two dozen.

Just bring your cupcakes to the YMCA Thursday, December 9 during practice hours or contact me if you need to arrange some other time.

Dear Team,

During the Thanksgiving break, we will not hold practice on Thursday (Thanksgiving), since the YMCA is closed. We will host a practice Friday. Juniors will train from 4-5pm and Seniors up will train from 5-6pm. The shortened practice times are due to shortened hours at the YMCA, which is only open until 6 pm on Friday. We will be working on dives and trying new drills during that time, so please make it if you can! Take it easy everybody and see you at the pool.

Please be sure to sign up for the TXLA Jingle Bell Splash coming up this December 10-12. The meet will take place at the Lee and Joe Jamail swim center at the University of Texas. View Meet Info >>

We are encouraging ALL SWIMMERS to sign-up and attend. With several swimmers already qualified for championship meets and severals who are on the cusp of qualifying, we are looking to build our arsenal and show South Texas where the best swimmers are at.

For those swimmers who have not swam at a meet before. This is the perfect place to get started. If you are not sure what to swim, please ask a coach. Elite/HS swimmers, please sign-up for at least 2-3 events. Preferably your favorite events, and 1-2 other events you do not swim at HS meets.

Qualifying Times: There are no qualifying times for this meet. Each swimmer may enter up to 4 events a day.

Entry Dates: Please email or submit a meet entry form at the pool by 8pm Thursday November 25th, Thanksgiving Day.

Entry Fees: Individual entries are $8.00 with a $6.00 coaching fee.

Texas Gold Best Times Team Troph Meet will be split into 2 sessions due to an enormous response for this meet. The morning session will be for our 9 & Under swimmers, and an afternoon session for our 10 & Over swimmers. There are right at 160 swimmers in each session, and the timeline is 3.5 hours in the morning and 4 hours for the afternoon.

Warm-ups: Three 20 minute warm-up sessions beginning at 8:00AM for the 9&U session with meet start time at 9:15AM. Three 25 minute warm-up sessions beginning at 1:00PM (or immediately following the conclusion of the morning session) with a meet start time at 2:20PM (or 1 hour 25 min after the warm-up begins). Specific warm-up assignments will be posted as soon as we receive from the meet host.

All swimmers are required to fill out a Assumption of Risk form required by Southwestern University. The form can be found here. Please bring the completed forms with you to the pool the day of the meet. Families with more than one swimmer may use a single form.

Texas Gold is hosting their Second Annual Team Trophy Meet Saturday November 20th at Southwestern University in Georgetown. This is a very exciting meet for our 14 and under and we want to encourage EVERYONE to attend. The trophy is awarded to the team that has the highest percentage of overall improvement. Last year, Lone Star experienced tremendous success when we took home the trophy both times.

Twas two weeks before Christmas and what do I see, hundreds of families surrounding me.

From all around Round Rock, near and far, they've come to win cupcakes, it's not so bazaar.

They have no idea from where they were baked, but they all tasted yummy for goodness sake.

LSAC is the sponsor for the cupcake walk, it's a great time to help and drink hot chocolate and talk.

So how can you help? I'm so glad you asked. I'll need about 400 cupcakes to last,

From 6:30 pm, December 10, in downtown Round Rock, it will be a blast!

If each of the LSAC family brings one or two dozen, there will be plenty for everyone, even their cousins!

I will need lots of helpers to run this event. So email me, or call, we'll be warm in the tent!

Thank you for reading my silly rhyme. I will need people to volunteer to run our annual "Lone Star Aquatic Cupcake Booth" in Downtown Round Rock in 15 minute increments; so please let me know which time works for you. We will begin at 6:30 pm, December 10th and close at 9 pm. The event is fun for the whole family!

Hi Lone Star Families,

What an outstanding job our team did at our first ever Jim Swim! We want to thank Coach Adam and Malena Davidson for organizing this fun event. Thank you to all of our great parents and coaches who volunteered! We want to thank Dale Rogers for another amazing clinic for our team! We are very privileged to learn from the best!

Swimmers, you were awesome! Remember, there is a prize for the most money raised, so be sure to keep getting those donations. All money is due by November 7th (but since that is a Sunday, be sure to get it in to the Treasurer's file on Friday, the 5th).

Many swimmers had other activities and missed our event. You are also encouraged to collect donations since this is our ONLY fundraiser and we need the extra funds for new equipment and for fun team activities! Our goal is for 100% team participation (whether you swam this weekend or not)! Plus let's not forget that a portion goes to help research and raise awareness of Pick's Disease. See our website for more info on this and the donation forms. Also there is a link on the website to the front page newspaper article from Saturday! Be sure to read it!

We don't ask for donations at any other time throughout the year and we have not had a fundraiser in many years.

Dear Team,

The meet entry has been sent out by Texas Aquatics. Already I have received several entries and hope to see more. If you are interested, but don't know what your child should swim, please meet me at the pool and I will help walk you through the process. I will be available @ 5 pm today, 6 pm tomorrow, and 5 pm Friday. You may also email me and we can work things out.

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

As a reminder, this Friday and Saturday is our team's fundraiser. The 2010 Jim Swim will take place Friday night and Saturday late morning/afternoon (see times below) October 22-23rd. This is a great way to support a good cause by giving back to those who have taken care of us. I met with Jim this morning and he is very excited to hear what we are doing.

Keep in mind, the Friday session is from 6-8 pm. This session is for all Elite swimmers and also for those swimmers from the other groups who can not make it on Saturday. We will swim as many laps as we can in the time limit. Coaches will be there to count, but we will need 2-3 parent volunteers. Please email me or Malena Davidson if you can volunteer: malena-davidson@sbcglobal.net. Then on Saturday, all the other groups will swim in two separate sessions.

* Senior and J5 will swim from 11:30-12:30.
* J3/J2 will swim from 12:30-1:30.

We will need about 7-8 parent volunteers to help the coaches count laps while the kids swim. If you would like to help, please email me or Malena: malena-davidson@sbcglobal.net

We are asking each swimmer to do his or her best to raise at least $50. Proceeds will go to our team as well as support the Jim and Jayne Buchanan Pick's Disease Foundation.

Please make checks payable to Lone Star Aquatic Club (with "donation" written in the memo) and place your swimmer's form with the checks in the Treasurer's folder. Forms are on the website. All money raised must be turned in by November 3rd. At that time, we will announce the swimmer who raised the highest amount and award that person with a prize!

NOW FOR THE EXCITING NEWS OF OUR SPECIAL GUEST: Immediately following the Jim Swim event on Saturday, we will have a special presentation from National Team swimmer Dale Rogers. Dale will be there at 1:30 pm to demonstrate drills that attribute to becoming a faster swimmer. This is an awesome opportunity and a tremendous learning experience for all swimmers especially those who want to compete at the next level in swimming. In sessions past, we have had outstanding results from this guy and the kids had so much fun. So plan on attending this fantastic event and to top it off...I have been in training to race this guy! Should be a good time! Bring your cameras! Just the other day I did 5 sit-ups with out stopping......

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

WOW!!! Awesome job to everyone who swam this weekend at the TXLA fall kick off. We were anticipating some fast swims, but no where near the level we saw this weekend. Across the board, Lone Star swimmers swam amazingly well throughout the competition including individual victories from Jake Wolf and Eryn Hauser. Usually, this is the time of the year where swimmers are just beginning to shake the cob webs out. Obviously, we are well past that point. Your swimmers this weekend were mind blowing. I've been a part of this team for about 10 years now and never have I seen a meet go so successful as it did this weekend.

To our "Rookies" way to handle your first meet. Some of you guys really shocked the coaches with your ferocity and focus every time you hit the water.

To our "Veterans" your hard work and willingness to lead by example could not have left us any prouder. This is definitely the STRONGEST team we have ever had and we are pumped for the next swim meet.

The next swim meet is at UT November 5-7th. Information is not available at this time as far as cost and timeline goes. They have made a cut-off time for October 25th. The event list can be found here. If you are interested in swimming, please send me the events you want and I will make sure to get them entered. More info to come.

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

Just a reminder, the TXLA Fall kick off is this weekend. All warm-up info is posted on our web site. Please review your entries and be sure to arrive early for warm-up. Sessions are split Saturday and Sunday with 12 and under swimming early and the 13 and up in the afternoon.

If this is your first swim meet, no worries. UT runs an outstanding format that is easy to follow. The pool is at the Lee and Joe Jamail swim center just off MLK and 35. Park in a nearby garage as parking is by permit only. Remember to send you swimmer packed with a suit, towel, clothes, and food. The swimmers will post up with the coaches on the pool deck and parents are only allowed in the stadium seating area.

As soon as your child is finished with their events, they may leave the pool. Text my number if any issues arise. I can not answer calls, but will check my phone for texts along the way. 5125608735.

DECK ENTRIES:

If you did not enter by the cut-off time and want to deck enter, please remember to bring your USA swimming ID card to sign in. Swimmers may deck enter during warm-up if there are spots available in that event. You may sign-up for events on the day you show up only.

If you do not have your USA card, I probably do. We just received a huge batch of cards and I will place them in your folder.

The new swim caps are here! They have our great new logo so every swimmer will want one. They will be available from Malena Davidson tomorrow at the pool beginning at 5 pm. Silicone caps cost $10. One latex cap per swimmer comes free with registration.

Coaches will also have some swim caps at the meet this weekend.

Hi Everybody,

First off, welcome to all new and returning swimmers! We hope you enjoyed your summer and were able to enjoy a little time off from the pool. The coaches can't wait to start our new season and are eager to start training. Swim practice picks up this Monday the 30th and we are excited to get the short course season rolling!

The summer season was a blast as Lone Star posted several outstanding swims and performed exceptionally at all Championship meets. Going into next season, we are looking to build on those performances. In order to do so, we are going to need 100% commitment from all swimmers and parents. Please attend all practices and give it your best each time you swim. The world is full of opportunity, so make the most of each practice and train hard!

Our swim meets for the 2010-2011 Short Course season will be posted on our web site under "Meets" at the top of the homepage. Most meets are local, but occasionally we will attend a swim meet out of town. The training schedule is posted here. There you will find training times and other important information. If you have any questions, please contact your respective coach.

Last but not least, if you plan on attending the Round Rock Express game on September 5th, please contact Malena Davidson (malena-davidson@sbcglobal.net) to reserve your ticket. Tickets are limited and will be distributed on a first come first serve basis. This should be a fun event for our families to kick off the season.

Dear Lone Star Families,

We had an extremely successful first registration period for returning swimmers! Our team is looking strong and we are looking forward to having a great season.

Our next in-person registration in Tuesday, August 10th. We will be taking any remaining returning swimmers' registration from 5-6 pm and then accepting new swimmer registrations from 6-7 pm.

We have only a few spots left in our most popular practice times from 5-8 pm. If you are a returning swimmer and wish to get a practice spot any time from 5 pm through 8 pm please contact us as soon as possible. You can send an email to Rob Moser(rmoser28@hotmail.com). We will do our best to accommodate all returning swimmers but please realize that certain practice times are already very near capacity.

For younger swimmers, there are more slots open in our 4-5 pm practices. Please tell any of your friends who may be interested in joining the team to come by our open registration on August 10th or to contact Coach Adam or Rob Moser by email.

Dear Parents,

On August 3rd from 5-7 pm, we will hold our first in-person registration for fall/spring short course swim season. The in-person registration will be held at the YMCA pool (patio area). This first registration session is reserved for returning swimmers only. We will begin opening any remaining practice slots to new swimmers at the second in-person registration on August 10th.

If you wish to avoid the crowds and make sure you get the practice times and days you prefer returning swimmers can send in their registration forms and payment by August 1st.

We expect to have strong demand for our limited number of practice slots. We want to make sure that our continuing swimmers hold their spots on the team. The best way to do that is to get your registration materials and payment into Caroline, our bookkeeper, before we open the remaining slots to new swimmers.

Since there is little time remaining before our first registration period on next Tuesday, it may be best to drop off your materials at the pool during practice hours (4-8 pm).

Your August statement is ready. Hopefully, this will be the last paper statement I ever prepare. I'm planning on upgrading to an electronic invoice system going forward. We're only swimming the first half of August, so the fees charged are half the normal monthly fee.

Congrats to everyone who swam at STAGS this last weekend. You guys swam fast and the coaches had a great time watching you compete. Overall it was a very successful meet and we had several outstanding performances, including Eryn Hauser's victory in the 50 fly and Annie Wang, who qualified for TAGS.

Scoring Points and Outstanding swims from:
Adrienne Tank, Nicole Tank, Isha Rajaram, Annie Wang, Lucy Hobbs, Eryn Hauser, Jacob Wolf, Caleb Randall, Logan Patrick, Avery Wolf, Jacob Wolf and Joseph Gonzales.

Dear Swimmers and Parents,

It's time to start planning for the Short Course season, which begins August 30th. The current Long Course season will end August 13th.

All swimmers will need to register again for the new season. To make things a little easier this year, we are offering the option for *RETURNING SWIMMERS ONLY* to mail in their registration packets instead of attending an in-person registration. Space in each group is limited, and spots will go to returning swimmers on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you need help determining which group to join, you can email Coach Adam at LSACCOACH@hotmail.com.

To Mail In your Registration Packet (returning swimmers only):
1. Print out the "2010-11 Fall Season Registration Packet."

2. Complete all pages of the packet.

3. Calculate the amount due. The amount due per swimmer is
first month's coaching fee
+ the USA Swimming fee ($67)
+ the Team Registration fee ($100).

The USA Swimming registration will be extended through the end of 2011. If there are any amounts due, you will be billed and are expected to pay the balance due before swimming resumes on August 30th.

4. Mail the completed packet and your check made payable to "Lone Star Aquatic Club" to:

5. The packet must be received before August 1st to be given priority placement. Packets will be processed in the order in which they are received. Incomplete packets will not be processed.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I went to Sea World this weekend with the family and other than all the trainers throwing fish at me, it was a great time.

Just a reminder, this weekend is the Texas Open at The University of Texas. Psych sheet and Timeline for the meet have been posted on our web site.

Please note:
Events 1 - 16 are on Friday. LSAC Warm-up begin at 2:10pm
Events 17 - 44 are on Saturday. Warm-up at 7:30am, 12:30pm for 31 - 44
Events 45 - 70 are on Sunday. Warm-up at 7:30 am, 12:00pm for 57 - 70
The meet will be run from both ends of the pool. Additionally, all 50's will be run from the Texas flag end of the pool.

Please remember to arrive early for wam-up. The meet has filled and the amount of seating will be limited. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will help you.

Just a reminder, the Valero Invitational is this weekend in Corpus Christi. We will compete June 19th - 20th and spend Monday, June 21st at Mustang Island. If you have not made Hotel arrangments, please do so now. Most hotels are booked as it is to be a very busy weekend. We will have a make-up session as soon we can coordinate one with the YMCA.

Tuesday and Thursday at the Northwest Swimming Pool:

Dear Swimmers and Parents:

Summer is almost here and the Long Course season is in full swing. As you may have heard, the Board has secured a Long Course pool for the summer. This is exciting news as we are now able to better prepare our swimmers for Long Course competition.

Now in years past, we have only been able to secure enough lanes to cover the Elite group. This year, we have enough lanes to cover all J5, Senior, and Elite groups through the summer. Practice times will proceed as planned:

Tuesday and Thursday at the Northwest Swimming Pool:
Elite: 6:00 - 8:00am
Senior: 6:30 - 8:00am
Junior 5: 6:30 - 8:00 am
All groups will keep their same evening hours. This allows for 10 Elite sessions (5 previously) and 7 sessions for Senior and J5 (5 previously).

Please note: *Monthly swimming fees will remain the same* This training schedule will go into full effect Tuesday June 1st. For location, please view the following link. The pool is outside and is located within a very nice neighborhood. Map >>

The Corpus Christi Marlins are hosting the Valero Invitational the weekend of June 19-20th. It is going to be a big meet with several top teams in the state set to attend. The are no qualifying times and an athlete can enter up to 5 events a day including one relay.

In years past, Lone Star has competed and done exceptional at Corpus Christi. We have booked several rooms at the Holiday Inn. For more information, contact me or refer to the newsletter announcements found on our web site.

Awards are given to swimmers who score that are 18 and under. The are also giving a High Point trophy for each age group.

Dear Swimmers and Parents:

Congrats to everyone who swam this past weekend. We had several amazing performances during all 5 sessions including STAG qualifiers Isha Rajaram, Nicole Tank, Caleb Randall, Lucy Hobbs, Annie Wang, Meredith Manry, and Thomas Marcotte.

A big congrats goes out to Eryn Hauser and Matt Marcotte who both qualified for TAGS in the 50 fly and 100 back respectively. Eryn qualified by almost a second while blitzing the field. Matt dropped a bomb and swam an incredible 2nd 50 and qualified by 2 one-hundredths of a second.

Great job everybody and keep working hard!!!

Our next swim meet will take place on May 21-23rd at the Longhorn Aquatics end of the School Splash. Races will be swam in a 50 meter Long Course pool and there are no qualifying times. Info has just posted last night and entries open today.

Dear Swimmers and Parents,

I hope everyone is making it through this pollen season all right. Woke up this morning to a car caked in yellow powder. Can't wait to get through this season and into summer!

Just a heads up, we are not having a summer registration this year. To make it easier for you the parents, we felt it only necessary to host one registration period in the fall. We understand that several families take some time off for vacation and other activities, so we don't want you to have to pay for a 3-month period of time. Instead we are sticking with the month-to-month plan.

If you do plan on leaving for a period of time, please inform the Bookkeeper and coaches. Matt, Jackie, and I are working feverously to get ready for the Long Course season and are trying to make this the best Long Course team Lone Star has ever had. We have the talent and we have the numbers, we just need everyone ready to compete.

If you are a J2 or J3 and would like to move to J5 for the summer, please do so. We want to encourage our athletes to stay as active as possible.

For swimmers 12 and under who are planning on swimming for summer league, please understand they are requiring you to not swim for you club from May 22 till July 1st.

The coaches understand that several swimmers are not returning to summer league, but realize that some will return. Just understand, that our numbers jump in the summer after the YMCA finishes their lessons. Already we have several who have joined this week and we plan on seeing more. If we become too full, like we did last year, we will have to close out on any new or returning swimmers.

Please understand, for us to continue to perform at the level we do, we want to keep are numbers low to ensure a higher quality of swimmer.

If you have any questions regarding our summer training or know you will be out of town for some extended period of time, please let me know.

A big congrats goes out to both Eryn Hauser and Meredith Manry for their outstanding performances this last weekend at the Texas Age Group Swimming Championships (TAGS). Both swimmers swam outstanding times and posted incredible times.

Eryn became the newest TAGS champion when she stunned the field in the 50 fly and posted a 29.8!! Her crowning achievement came through months of hard work and dedication. Eryn also finaled in the 50 back where she placed 4th and did exceptional in the 100 back and 50 free as well. Great job Eryn!

Meredith posted an incredibly fast time in the 50 fly as well and finished 14th overall. Meredith has been an outstanding leader all season long and has continued to step up to the plate each time she competes. Great job Meredith, we are all proud of you!

If you are a Junior Olympics qualifer and need overnight room accommodations while attending the meet, several of your team members will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott at San Antonio Airport, 8615 Broadway Street, San Antonio, Texas, 78217.

Congrats to all the Elite swimmers who competed at the UIL State meet and Sectionals the past two weeks.

Our State swimmers included Kirby Seibert, Zane Pluethner, Gabe Wheeler, Kerrington Hill, Sidney Deloach and Brenden Leach.

Sectional swimmers included: Kerrington Hill, Michael Duplessie, Brenden Leach, Zain Pluethner, Nathan Slota, Gabe Wheeler, Kyler Wood, and Joe Pavlovski.

We had several fast swims including Kerrington Hill's record performing swim in the 50 free lead to a second place finish at State finals. Kerrington also went on to place 6th overall at Sectionals this past weekend.

Zane Pluethner also placed 4th in the 200 free relay and 7th in the 400 free relay as well.

Great job Lone Star swimmers!

Hey Everybody! On April 25th, Cedar Park swimming is hosting a Kids Triathlon at Elizabeth Milburn park. Many athletes in the Austin area will be in attendance and we are looking into sending a group as well.

Information for this event is provided here.

An athlete must also be a member of USAT. Membership info can be found here.

Youth membership is $5 annually and the racing fee is $35 if submitted before 4-12, $45 if submitted afterwards.

Already several parents have said they are looking into going and the coaches are excited the see how Lone Star swimmers do. If you are interested in learning more, please email me @ AdamDepmore@yahoo.com or call 512-560-8735. It should be exciting so please sign-up!

Lone Star Swimmers - Headed to State

This past weekend in Conroe we had numerous Lone Star swimmers competing in the Region IV-5A Championship meet; Sidney Deloach, Michael Duplessie, Marissa Galvan, Tanner Hertzog, Kerrington Hill, Ben Leach, Brendon Leach, Sam Moser, Zain Pleuthner, Kirby Siebert, Nate Slota, Philip Welch, Gabe Wheeler and Kyler Wood.

Kerrington won a gold medal and qualified for State in the 50 Free and is also going to State in the 100 Free. Gabe, Sidney, Kerrington and Brendon qualified for State in the 200 Free Relay. Zain's 200 Free relay won a bronze medal and his 400 Free relay won silver, both qualifying for State. Kirby's 200 Free Relay also qualified for State. Pictures of some of the swimmers are also attached under "Gallery".

Congrats to all the Long Star swimmers and good luck at the State meet!

This year, Lone Star will be going to both American Short Course Grand Prix in Austin and Sectionals in College Station. The qualifying times are the same as they were last year with American Short Course Grand Prix, March 4-6th, and Sectionals March 4-7th.

Happy Holidays LSAC Families!

Lone Star Aquatics has the opportunity to sponsor/operate the Cupcake Walk again this year at the Round Rock Christmas Family Night in downtown RR on December 11th. We expect up to 1,000 visitors to our booth so that means we'll need quite a few cupcakes (about 400). That sounds like a lot, but if we all donate 1-2 dozen, we will have plenty!

We're also looking for volunteers to help run the booth in half hour shifts (this way you still have time to enjoy the rest of the event). Event runs from 6:30 to 9:30.

Please let me know how you'd like to help. I'll send an update soon on when and where to drop off the cupcakes. Here's link.

Dear Swimmers and Parents,

In the event of inclement weather, the CHASCO Family YMCA will close the Aquatics Center for 30 minutes after the last sighting of thunder or lightening. The Aquatics center will re-open immediately preceding the completion of the full 30 minutes provided that no other sighting of thunder and/or lighting occurs.

As in previous reminders, we advise you to NOT leave your personal belongings in the Y locker rooms during practice, unless you use a lock on one of the lockers. If using a lock, the lock must be removed each day. You can bring your personal belongings out of the locker room and leave them on deck either in the stands with your parents or by the garage doors.

LSAC Families and Swimmers,

This is a friendly reminder to please refrain from discussing issues with our Coaches during practice sessions. We strive to provide the most professional and focused training as possible for your swimmers. However, it is difficult for the Coaches to focus on practice sets and give your swimmers specific instructions when approached by parents with questions or comments.

The Coaches are available before and after each practice group to discuss your issues, or you may contact them via email. Also, there is usually a Board Member at practice most days and you are welcome to speak with them as well.

Be sure to mark your calenders for the start of our Short Course (Fall & Spring) season on Monday, August 31st.

Just as a reminder, Long Course (Summer swim season) ends on August 14th. Our standard practice is for our team to take a break between Long Course and Short Course. Therefore, there will be no Lone Star practices, from August 17th through August 28th.

Dear Lone Star Swimmers and Parents,

This past weekend, we had several swimmers represent LSAC at the South Texas Junior Olympics swim meet held at West Austin Athletic Club. The weather was hot, but our swimmers were hotter! With outstanding swims from both the boys and girls side, Lone Star came away with over 650 points and the highest amount in the history of our team for a JOs meet. And the first time we had every single swimmer score points! Excellent jobs guys, and keep up the great work!

Also, a big congrats goes out to Mauro Molina and Thomas Marcotte for qualifying for the STAGS and TAGS championship meets in early August. Thomas will be representing LSAC this weekend at Texas A&M for the TAGS meet and Mauro will be joining Hayley Krebsbach, Joseph Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Annie Wang, and Lucy Hobbs at the STAGS meet in Corpus Christi the week after TAGS.

Next week we will also be sending, for the first time, a swimmer to the US Open in Seattle, WA. Future Longhorn (Hook em!) Dax Hill, who has qualified in several events, will be attending this meet with coach Matt over the course of the week. Also, in Seattle the week following the US Open, Kerrington Hill, who is currently the 5th fastest swimmer in the US in the 15/16 years old boy's 50 meter freestyle, will be competing at the Speedo Junior National Championships swim meet, along with soon to be Aggie (Gig em!) Wesley Wheeler.

Also, Kerrington Hill broke the South Texas 15-16 years old boy's 50 meter freestyle record at the Sectional Championships during the weekend, July 15-18th at University of Houston. Kerrington swam 23.62 in the Sunday's prelim, broke the 20 year old record by 0.06 second. The old record was 23.68 held by Josh Davis, who won three golds and two silvers in the 1996 and the 2000 Olympics. Congratulations!!

If you get the chance, please take the time and congratulate these swimmers and their accomplishments.

Last but not least, returning swimmers please remember to register next Monday, August 3rd from 5-8pm at the YMCA. Spots are limited and we are expecting to fill every last spot. So please get there early for your Priority 1 or 2 time slot , and if you have any conflict with the registration times please feel free to contact a Coach or Board Member. Take care and see you at the pool!

LSAC swimmer Dax Hill has been named the Austin American-Statesman's top area athlete for the 2008-09 school year. This past winter, Hill won two gold medals at the state swim meet and was an all-district basketball player. Hill, who received interest from the North Carolina and Indiana basketball programs, will swim at Texas next year. Read more >>

Notice: Spartan Camp will be held at the fields next to Round Rock High and Micki Krebsbach pool this week.

Swimmers participating in Spartan Camp:

The YMCA will be doing some repairs this week to the exercise room where we usually hold the Spartan training camp on Mondays and Thursdays. Therefore, for this week only, Spartan Camp will be held at the fields next to Round Rock High School and Micki Krebsbach pool. The time will remain the same, 8-9 pm, on Monday and Thursday.

Meet Information for Long Course J.O. is now available here. Both long course and short course events are available at this meet!!

Meet Highlights:
- This meet will be conducted from Friday, July 24th to Sunday July 26th.
- Two pools will be used for the meet, one 4-lane 50 meter pool and one 8-lane 25 yard pool. Map to the pool >>
- All long course events (Session 1,3 and 5) will be held in the morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- All short course events (Session 2 and 4) will be held in the afternoon on Friday and Saturday.
- All relay events, 200 & above events for 11 & older only, and 500 free will be short course events.
- Time trials are available on Sunday right after the morning session, providing additional chances for the kids to qualify for STAGS or Senior Champs.

We have also just put out 11,000+ flyers in area schools so we are expecting a huge influx of new swimmers over the next week or two as parents start thinking about summer activities for their kids.

We don?t want any of our current swimmers who wish to swim with Lone Star this summer to miss out. Please sign up and pay for the summer program now before we fill our remaining slots with new swimmers.

As a reminder, please submit your completed registration form and payment for the Long Course summer season. Registration for new swimmers will open May 9th as we will be distributing flyers to area schools and at Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA this weekend. After May 9th, it will be first come, first served when registration opens up to new swimmers. Congratulations to Lone Star Aquatics Swimmer, MATTHEW MARCOTTE who qualified for the Texas Age Group Swimming (TAGS) Championships March 12th - 15th at Alfred J. Loos Swimming Center in Addison, Texas.

Congratulations to Lone Star Swimmers, who qualified for the 2009 Senior Championships & 2009 South Texas Age Group Championships (STAGS) in San Antonio.

STAGS Qualifiers:
Anthony Gonzales, Mathew Marcotte, Thomas Marcotte, Jake Moser, Annie Wang

Senior Champs Qualifiers:
Alex Davis, Ricky gomez, Marissa Galvan, Tanner Herzog, Nathan Slota, Kirby Seibert, Phillip Welch

Boys 200 Medley Relay from Round Rock (Wesley Wheeler, Brendon Leach, Dax Hill and Kerrington Hill) placed 2nd in finals with a team record 1:34.79 and made it to STATE!!!
Boys 200 Medley Relay from Westwood, that included Zain Pleuthner, placed 6th in finals with a 1:38.05 and made it to STATE!!!
Dax Hill placed first in 200 Free finals with a 1:39.58, set a pool record and made it to STATE!!!!
Kerrington Hill set a pool record in prelims with 20.89 and placed 1st in the 50 Free finals with a 20.95 and made it to STATE!!!
Boys 200 Free Relay from Westwood, with Zain Pleuthner, placed 3rd in finals with a 1:27.82 and made it to STATE!!!
Wesley Wheeler set a team record in prelims with a 50.61 and placed 3rd in the 100 Fly finals with a 50.72 and made it to STATE!!!
Brandon Collins from Stoney Point placed 5th in the 100 Fly finals with a 51.73
Kerrington Hill placed 2nd in the 100 Free finals with a 46.46 and made it to STATE!!!
Wesley Wheeler set a team record in prelims with a 51.83 and placed 3rd in the 100 Back finals with a 52.11 and made it to STATE!!!
Dax Hill placed first in the 100 Breast finals with a team record 56.75, set a pool record and made it to STATE!!!
Boys 400 Free relay (Kerrington Hill, Wesley Wheeler, Ben Leach and Dax Hill) placed 1st with a 3:07.52 setting a regional and pool record and made it to STATE!!!
Boys 200 Medley Relay from Westwood, that included Zain Pleuthner, placed 8th in finals with a 3:17.77

Congratulations to LoneStar swimmers on a great District 16-5A Meet.

Dax Hill - 1st place in the 200 Free and 1st place in the 100 Breaststroke!!!!
Congrat's Dax Hill named TISCA District Athlete of the YEAR!!!!
Kerrington Hill - 1st place in the 50 Free and 1st place in the 100 Freestyle!!!!
Wesley Wheeler - 1st place in the 100 Butterfly and 1st place 100 Backstroke!!!!
Ben Leach - 6th place in the 200 IM!!!!
Brendon Leach - 7th place in the 100 Breaststroke and 8th place in the 100 Butterfly!!!!
Sam Moser - 5th place in the 100 Butterfly and 8th place in 200 Freestyle!!!!
Zain Pleuthner - 3rd place in the 50 Free and 6th place in the 100 Backstroke!!!!

New meet added! - TASC February Last Chance Meet.

This is the last meet opportunity before the STAGS and Senior Championships meet. Our Coaches will be supporting events held on Saturday, February 7th, but not on Friday evening. Please read the full meet information and the STAGS Time Standards or Senior Champs Time Standards to verify if you have or are close to a STAGS or Senior Champs qualification time in each event. You may speak to Coach Matt if you have questions concerning a certain event. There are no qualifying times for this meet so any registered USA swimmer can compete. Age groups are determined as of February 6th, 2009. Both STAGS and Senior Champs are February 20th-22nd in San Antonio, so this is your last chance to try for a qualifying time.

New practice schedule at YMCA has been posted - Spring 2009 Practice Schedule beginning Jan. 19th, 2009. At the same time, a Yahoo!Groups email has been distributed regarding each swimmer's group assignment. If you did not receive the email, and are not sure about your new practice time, please talk to the Coach or contact Marilyn Hill at 512-388-0712. We encourage all our team members to sign up for our email list in order to get the latest update from the team.

On Jan. 19, 2009, LSAC will officially move to the new Rabb Family Natatorium at the Round Rock Chasco Family YMCA

The 14,025 sq. ft. $6 million facility, which is located at 1812 N. Mays St. in Round Rock includes:

- 25-yard, eight-lane lap pool;
- retractable panel roof;
- recreation instructional pool with a slide, splash and spray elements;
- whirlpool;
- warm-water therapy swimming pool;
- aluminum bleachers with 100-person capacity; and
- family dressing rooms and restrooms.

This is only the third year-round, competitive swimming center of its kind in the Austin area.

LSAC swimmer Dax Hill signed a letter of intent to swim for Eddie Reese and the Texas Longhorns.

Hill is a three time All American and All State swimmer. Hill won the silver medal at the UIL swim meet last season and was also a regional champion.
