Coach Notes - 3/23/2010

Hey Ya'll,

Welcome back everybody from spring break! Hope you all were able to enjoy some down time this last week. Personally, I spent some time last night rolling in bed trying to ease a sunburn while also trying to forget the fact that A&M and UT are no longer in the NCAA tournament.... Oh the Ides of March!!!

This next weekend is the last meet of the short course season. We currently have 41 individual entries and the coaches are excited to see how our kids do. Information is posted on our web site, www.lonestaraquatics.com. Timeline, warm-up info, and team seating is posted on the left side of the screen.

Our end of the year Splash Party and Awards Banquet is scheduled as well. Please mark April 24th on your calendar as we plan on getting down from 7 to 11pm. Food and drinks will be provided so just remember to bring your suit.

April 25th is the Cedar Park Triathlon. Information is provided on our web site. I've already received several confirmations so hopefully we can get in there and wreck shop!!!

The Long Course season kicks off this April 30th with the TXLA Long Course meet. For those of you who are new to the team, each summer our competition switches form short course yards to long course meters (Olympic distance). This is an opportune time for our High School Seniors to get recruited as college recruiters tend to come to each meet.

For our younger kids, it's a great time for them to experience the distance Olympians compete at. USA is the only country that uses the short course yards format. The rest of the world uses meters, so it's interesting to see how our kids do compared to the rest of the world.

Last year, Lone Star had a lot of success as we had 3 swimmers qualify for Junior Nationals and 1 Senior Nationals along with Tommy Marcotte qualifying for Long Course TAGS at A&M.

The Long Course meet schedule is posted on our web site as well. Please note that we are planning on doing a Team Travel meet to Corpus Christi June 19-20th. BEAT, the host team, has a nice state of the art pool and has invited us to come. Several former Lone Star Swimmers have set several pool records there in years past and we are looking to add a couple more.

Please feel free to contact me anytime if you need help finding something or have questions about our team. We are looking forward to seeing you by the pool deck!

Take it easy,

Coach Adam
